Dry January = Fancy Mocktails and Health Benefits

Anyone else going dry for the month of January?

Research shows 1 alcohol free month can actually boost long-term health. If that’s not enough to pique your interest, there is also immediate health benefits including potential weight loss, money savings, skin health and better sleep. While I don't drink as much as I use to, I still have a glass of wine with dinner and a few cocktails on the weekend and I want to kick off the new year with my health top of mind.

Check out my instagram for occasional updates and tune in at the end of the month to see if I noticed a differece. In the meantime, here's my first mocktail recipe of the month, to which my boyfriend’s response was “holy sh*t that’s surprisingly good, is there anymore?” (he also really likes grapefruits though :))

Here’s all you need:

  • Juice from 1 large grapefruit - cut it in half and squeeze each half into a bowl, use a fork to get out the remaining juices (feel free to use a juicer too but I did not want to dabble in that at the time :)); use a strainer so you just have the juice

  • Juice from 1 lemon - squeeze your heart our here too, get as much as you can and strain

  • A pinch-ish of sea salt (i’d use less than half of the teaspoon, but hey, your mocktail, your call)

  • About 1 cup of cold sparkling water

  • A drop of honey (to taste)

  • A pinch of cinnamon (to taste)

  • Stir until everything is combined

  • Put in some fancy glasses

  • Enjoy chilled
