Ice cream to go and other business travel tips

Happy Friday friends! Any fun plans this weekend? I ask as if you’re all going to answer me directly...I’ll wait. Sounds super fun.

Anyway, I’m decompressing after a busy week and a 24 hour travel situation and want to share a handful of tips I swear by when I travel for work. It’s hard to juggle work and life - I get it so let me help ya!

Sneak preview: some of this includes ordering ice cream to go (vegan I may add, slurp city I may add). Here we go:

  1. Water, water, water - it’s important to stay super hydrated when traveling. Have some aqua before you leave, grab a water bottle when you get on the plane and make sure your hotel situation has some water up in there. Most will.

  2. Pack a snack. I typically try to have a raw rev or no cow bar with me on all my travels. Airport food is kind of bleh and I would rather have bars I like on me. High fiber bars at that. Dark chocolate and sea salt raw rev bars are my fave flavor.

  3. Plan ahead - more times than not, I’m not able to explore an area as much as I’d like. But lately, I really want to. Cue the violin. This past week, I went to Nashville for a full 24 hours - yerp. I heard about this vegan ice cream place that looked super cute (see pics below), but also had to make a few stops and prep for my event. What to do what to do? So, before I even got to Nashville, I scoped out a fed ex, Office Depot, restaurant and ice cream place I wanted to check out. Mapped it out and made all those stops when I landed. To save a little time and settle, I got food and ice cream to go. I’ll be honest sometimes I just want alone time in lounge wear and I don’t want to be overstimulated. I was less than 10 minutes from my hotel, the ice cream made it and I have no regrets. Kokos ice cream btw (holy chocolate and cookies and kreme, combo has my heart). And finally, right before I went to the airport I did try spicy chicken with honey too. This was unplanned but when in Rome. I’m all about balance, and again regrets? Nada.

  4. Don’t stress. Something always goes wrong whether it’s minor or major, it’s okay. I literally need to talk to myself because I tend to sweat the small stuff. And I live. No one ever notices either as long as you stay calm, everything appears cool calm and collected. I also tend to TRY to change my anxious feelings into excitement. Instead of “I’m nervous for this event” I’ve been literally chanting to myself “I’m excited for this event” I say it like 5 times and then any time I actually start feeling some nerves. Mindset shift super helpful.

  5. Reset on the plane. So many times after I finish a meeting or event, I log back online. Sometimes yes, you have to meet a few deadlines or catch up on some pressing office slack convos ;) but other times, no. Just no. Read a book, watch a show or movie (if your WiFi works, mine didn’t this week, womp), close your eyes and relax. You did good, boss babe you deserve some time to yourself.

Any other tips you want to share? DM me and I’ll post a few.

Be well xx
