It’s finally Fall (I can’t believe it)! and it’s the perfect time to reset your mind and body. As the seasons change, it's important to pay attention to our health and wellness needs. Here are some tips to help you feel your best during the fall:
Stay hydrated: The cooler weather may make you think you don't need as much water, but it's important to keep your body hydrated in every season. Try adding some warm lemon water or herbal tea to your routine to stay cozy and up your water intake.
Spend time in nature: Take a hike, go for a walk, or just sit outside and enjoy the beauty of the changing leaves. It’s still important to get your morning sunlight too, even on days that are not as sunny, as this will help with your circadian rhythm (i.e., helps your internal clock “wake up”), boost your mood and will actually help you sleep at night!
Move your body: If you’re spending time in nature, I hope you’re going for a walk/hike, but if you’d prefer to stay inside, why not try a new class? Consider going to a new yoga class with a friend or some low impact movement, which will also help with hormone balance!
Prioritize sleep: As the days get shorter, it's important to make sure you're getting enough rest. Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep per night, and try to establish a consistent bedtime routine.
Start a gratitude journal. Write down three things you're grateful for each day, and focus on the positive things in your life.
Detox for your hormones: When your liver is overloaded with toxic products and people, it can’t do it’s job to detox the body. Treat yourself to the mulled wine (yum, now I want one), but be mindful about how much you do it. Start to incorporate clean beauty products into your life, and get a few sauna sessions in to 1) get nice and cozy this fall season and 2) eliminate extra toxins
Show yourself some love: Let’s also reset how we talk to ourselves and what we prioritize. Ditch the negative self talk and speak to yourself like you would a friend. Set boundaries at work and with loved ones, and add self-care to your calendar.
Incorporate seasonal produce: Fall is the perfect time to try new recipes featuring seasonal produce like squash, pumpkin, and apples. Eating a variety of fruits and vegetables can help keep your immune system strong. Make sure to pair your produce with protein and healthy fats to balance blood sugar.
Remember, taking care of your health and wellness is a journey, not a destination. Start small and build on your healthy habits each day. What are your favorite fall wellness tips? Share them below!
