I Just Turned 30: Now What?!

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been extremely anxious about turning 30 and not because I feel “old” by any means - to me age is but a number - but because of all the reflection that comes with this milestone.

Besides the fact that I’m weird about my birthday in general (IDK why), I feel like many of us expect to have it all figured out by this age. 20s are for soul-searching and making mistakes and figuring out what we want. And then BAM, you turn 30 and you’re supposed to have your life set. Welp, NOPE, let me tell you I don’t have it all figured out yet, but I’m on my way. So instead of feeling worried (which let me tell you I’m a professional worrier), I am going to take action.

Here’s the down and dirty on my plans for thirty. (Too much rhyming I know, but I’m sticking with it.)

  • Stay true to myself: I listened to a webinar yesterday and this was the underlying message from @truhausmedia and @withyohanna. I’m a new blogger - I have no idea what I’m doing with this template, no idea how to take amazing pics, and I’m still trying to find my voice. Bare with me! I’m weird, caring, passionate about wellness and can’t take a good selfie (see above photo ;)).

  • Inspire others: so, I launched Well and Gray, the blog last week (strategically before I hit the big 3-0 milestone btw) in hopes that I would inspire others to live a happy and healthy life. I want to create a community and learn and live well, together.

  • Continue to invest in myself: I am currently working a 9-6 job, a Nutritious Life Studio student and just bought a package of Photoshop classes. I want to grow and kick ass in each of these areas and continue find other ways to learn. I use to carry around index cards all over college and still proud of the nerd I use to be. 20 year old me would be so impressed with 30 year old me. Hey, girl.

  • Care less: yes. You read that right. As I mentioned I’m a worrying professional. The days where I decide to leave work on time and unplug are the days i notice myself feeling a bit better. So yes, I’ll do my job and do it well, but sometimes I’ll give it a 95 percent vs a 110. I am also working towards not giving an F about what people think. This one will be a challenge, but hey I’ll try. (Halp!!)

  • Be direct: I neeeed to be better about saying what I mean. check out yesterday’s Instagram post about saying maybe too much. I always worry about hurting people’s feelings and I notoriously sugar coat. we can be direct without being rude and that’s something I want to work on. Do you want to go out tonight: NOPE I GOT PLANS (I really do though it’s my day of birth)

  • Dream: yes yes how corny but I am the worlds biggest dreamer. I literally cannot stop. Head in the clouds and I love it. I believe I will do great things (cocky in my old age aren’t I ;)), and I hope Well and Gray is the first of many ways I can start something meaningful.

I have a lotttt more thoughts here, I could go on and on and was debating on going for 30 to stay on theme. (but I’m sure this is way too long already). I think I touched on the biggies, but if you want to chat more about it - comment below or send me a DM on Instagram!

So all in all, if you’re worried about turning 30, don’t. And, even if you’re much younger or older, I hope this inspires you a little to act. It’s never too late to work on yourself and for me, I think the best is yet to come :)

xx Be well ❤️
